Queen’s Park

Queen’s Park is one of Blackburn’s finest traditional urban parks, covering 33 acres on the south-east side of the town. Officially opened in 1887 as a Golden Jubilee memorial to Queen Victoria, the park has been a community landmark for over 130 years and is the proud holder of a Green Flag Award.

The park was designed by borough engineer J.R. McCallum and includes sweeping lawns, mature trees, historic gardens and a three-and-a-half acre serpentine lake which once hosted boating and winter skating. Over the decades, Queen’s Park has also been home to bowling greens, tennis courts, a bandstand, children’s play areas and rose gardens, making it a much-loved leisure space for generations of Blackburn residents.

Today, visitors can enjoy open parkland, play areas and lakeside walks in a peaceful green retreat just minutes from Blackburn town centre.
