Blackburn with Darwen Council has moved to quash rumours circulating on social media about the future of the former Gate Bar and Grill on Livesey Branch Road.

The Council has confirmed that the building is privately owned and is not being used or considered for housing asylum seekers, despite claims being shared online.

Planning permission has recently been granted to convert the former pub into a five-bedroom family home, and renovation work will be carried out for that purpose.

The premises, located close to Ewood Park, were previously known as The Moorgate until April 2023.

A Council spokesperson said:

“We would kindly ask people not to share misinformation, which can cause unnecessary concern in the community. Please help by sharing the facts.”
