Blackburn’s Inspiring careers event returns for ninth year

Blackburn’s Inspiring took place at Blackburn Leisure Centre on Thursday 17 September, with almost 2,000 young people attending from Blackburn with Darwen secondary schools.

The careers event is organised and delivered by Blackburn with Darwen’s New Directions team and is now in its ninth year. Its aim is to inform and inspire young people about the options available once they leave school.

Some of those attending were young people who are not currently engaged in education, employment or training (NEET).

Cllr Julie Gunn, the Council’s Executive Member for Children, Young People and Education, attended the event. There were 68 exhibits on offer on the day, including Further Education Colleges, school sixth forms and local training providers.

Employers present included BAE Systems, EG on the Move, Forbes Solicitors, Graham and Brown, Army Careers and Vital Energi Utilities Ltd.
