Take a Look Behind the Scenes at Blackburn Empire Theatre This Sunday

Ever wondered what goes on behind the scenes at Blackburn Empire Theatre? This Sunday, 18 October, the popular local theatre is opening its doors and inviting visitors to explore.

From 10 am to 1 pm, visitors can explore the Aqueduct Road venue, learn about its history, and meet the friendly volunteers who help bring live entertainment to Blackburn.

Whether you’re a regular theatre-goer, have fond memories of past performances, or have never ventured inside before, the open day is a chance to see the Empire from a different perspective.

Discover the people behind the performances

Blackburn Empire is much more than a stage and an auditorium. As an independent charitable theatre, it relies on a dedicated team of volunteers who help keep the venue running and welcome thousands of visitors throughout the year.

The open day offers an opportunity to learn more about the building, its history and the people who give their time to make the theatre such an important part of Blackburn’s cultural life.

Could you become an Empire volunteer?

The theatre is also looking for potential new volunteers who might be interested in joining its friendly team.

You don’t need any previous theatre experience. Whether you enjoy meeting people, have a passion for live entertainment or simply want to do something rewarding with your spare time, there could be an opportunity for you.

And there’s absolutely no pressure to sign up on the day.

Visitors can chat with existing volunteers, find out what’s involved, and decide whether becoming part of the Empire family might be for them.

Everyone is welcome

The open day isn’t just for potential volunteers. Anyone interested in Blackburn’s history, local theatre, or simply seeing what’s inside the building is encouraged to come along.

Bring a friend, enjoy a look around and discover a little more about one of the town’s independent entertainment venues.
