In a remarkable display of dedication and community spirit, Darwen Food Share Community Interest Company (CIC) successfully raised £7126.55 during a challenging sleep-out event held at Whitehall Park, Darwen, on Saturday, 11th November. Braving freezing temperatures that dipped to around 0°C, 18 committed volunteers from the organization participated in the fundraiser to support the vital cause of Darwen Food Share CIC.
Darwen Food Share CIC, a local initiative that has been providing free meals and support to those in need every Monday at St Peters Church on Bank Street, Darwen, has been making a significant impact in the community for the past five years. The funds raised through the sleep-out event will contribute towards the organization’s estimated annual running costs of £10,000.
Jennifer Hearle, Director of Darwen Food Share CIC, expressed her heartfelt gratitude to the volunteers and the community, stating, “Well done to all participants; I am truly impressed by the overwhelming support our food share initiative receives, and this is a testament to the dedication of our exceptional volunteers.
