Blackburn Market and Culturapedia invite you to visit a brand new exhibition by a local artist.

“I make paintings based on my memories and childhood dreams in Brunei. Being mixed race, I spent my childhood in Brunei before moving to and settling in England. And with that move, Brunei slowly became a distant memory, with certain objects and scenes staying with me, such as batik flowers, woven sarongs and most prominently, the jungle itself. After a recent visit in 2025, those memories came flooding back, but now, through an adult lens, they have had me questioning my identity and experience. I need to paint; I’m most relaxed when I do, and these thoughts have served as the base/inspiration for these paintings.”
