The council says it is inviting applications from residents who are off the gas grid and struggling to afford an oil refill, following the Government’s announcement of new support through the Crisis and Resilience Fund.
It says the price of home heating oil has risen due to the war between the US-Israel and Iran.
To apply, residents must be aged 16 or over, live in Blackburn with Darwen, use oil as their main heating source and not be connected to the gas grid. They must also be unable to afford an oil refill, with a quote or invoice required, and be receiving Universal Credit, a disability-related benefit, or be on a low income.
Income limits apply and must be under £26,057 for a single working adult, or £38,870 for households with two or more working adults, with savings of up to £16,000.
Applicants will need to provide proof of benefits or income, a recent bank statement and a heating oil quote or invoice.
More information is available on the council’s Oil heating grant page.
