Taking place on 11th, 12th, and 13th February 2025, the Get Job Ready 2025 event will be held across two venues—Blackburn Leisure Centre and Blackburn Library—and feature local employers, workshops, and expert advice to support job seekers of all backgrounds.
Attendees will have the opportunity to connect with local businesses, enhance their CVs, gain vital interview skills, and apply for live vacancies with on-the-spot support from the Employment Support Team.

Here’s what you can expect over the three days:
Day 1 – Tuesday 11th February: Get Work Ready (10:00–15:00)
Venue: Blackburn Central Library, Town Hall St, Blackburn BB2 1AG
This day focuses on preparing attendees to confidently apply for jobs. Workshops will cover CV updates, interview techniques, and skills for job applications. Attendees can also connect with employment support services like:
- Employment Support: Guidance for residents aged 16–65 in Blackburn and Darwen.
- Adult Learning: Courses to enhance work prospects and wellbeing, including digital skills, English, and maths.
- National Careers Service: Career advice for individuals aged 18+ at any stage in their career.
Day 2 – Wednesday 12th February: Jobs & Skills Fair (10:00–15:00)
Venue: Blackburn College, Blackburn Sports and Leisure Centre, Feilden St, Blackburn BB2 1LQ
This is the perfect opportunity to meet local employers in retail, hospitality, and other sectors. Job seekers can utilise Day 1’s knowledge to actively apply for jobs.
- Application Station: Apply for live vacancies with expert support.
- Vacancy Board: Browse a range of open roles.
- Employers: Businesses recruiting in the area will be available for one-on-one conversations.
Day 3 – Thursday 13th February: Work with Us – BwD Council Jobs and Apprenticeships (16:00–19:00)
Venue: Blackburn College, Blackburn Sports and Leisure Centre, Feilden St, Blackburn BB2 1LQ
Explore career opportunities within Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council. Managers from various departments will be on hand to discuss roles, and attendees can hear about professional development opportunities, including leadership training and role-specific qualifications.
