Blackburn Cathedral to host free Community Health and Wellbeing Day

Blackburn Cathedral has announced that it will host a Community Health and Wellbeing Day on 19 November 2026, with the free drop-in event set to run from 10.30am to 4pm.

The cathedral says the event will bring together more than 30 local and national charities, NHS teams and specialist organisations, giving Lancashire residents face-to-face access to advice and support without appointments or waiting lists.

Among the organisations listed are Age UK, Alzheimer’s Society, Samaritans, Christians Against Poverty and East Lancashire Hospice, alongside local services including the Blackburn Neighbourhood Policing Scheme, Dial a Ride, Deaf Village Northwest and the Clitheroe Repair Café.

Support on offer is said to cover mental health guidance, eldercare, carers’ support, child and NHS vaccinations, debt relief, sexual health and disability services, as well as information on local initiatives and accessibility services across Lancashire.

The Revd. Canon Andrew Horsfall, Interim Dean of Blackburn, said: “We are delighted to be hosting this event” and said the cathedral looks forward to welcoming as many people as possible from across its communities.

Entry will be via the main West Doors at the front of the cathedral, opposite BBC Radio Lancashire on Darwen Street. The cathedral says there is no onsite parking, but there are public car parks nearby, and that the building is fully accessible and wheelchair friendly, although some old, uneven surfaces remain.
