Blackburn with Darwen Council has highlighted how quickly someone can face homelessness, saying it can take just one or two missed paychecks, an unexpected bill or a relationship breakdown to trigger a housing crisis.

The council says it provides temporary accommodation pods for residents experiencing homelessness, and that these were recently upgraded with ten brand-new pods offering safe shelter and support when needed.

The pods have already helped Danielle, and Gary and his partner. The council says their stories can be heard on its Facebook page.

The post is part of the Part of Your Story campaign, which aims to show how Blackburn with Darwen Council supports residents throughout their lives — from registering a birth and accessing early years, education and care services, through to support later in life.
