Remembrance Events in Blackburn and Darwen 2019

Special commemorations are set to take place across the borough to mark Remembrance Day.

Residents are invited to join the Royal British Legion and Blackburn with Darwen Council at services commemorating the lives of those who died in the two World Wars and other conflicts.

Saturday, November 9

Remembrance Service – Darwen Market Square – 11am – followed by wreath laying at the Boer War Memorial in Belgrave Square.

Sunday, November 10

United Service of Remembrance and parade – Blackburn Cathedral – 9.30am.

A parade will then form on King William Street – leaving at 10:25am – to the Corporation Park Gardens of Remembrance for a wreath laying ceremony service.

A bus will be available from Blackburn Cathedral from 10:10am – departing at 10:20am.

Sunday, November 10

Remembrance service and wreath laying at Bold Venture Park, Darwen – 11am followed by church service at St. Peter’s at 12:15am.

A bus will be available from Darwen Bus Station at 10:10am to depart at 10:20am.

Sunday, November 10

Blackburn and Darwen Band: Festival of Remembrance – Darwen Library Theatre, 2pm.

Two minute silence – at the front of Blackburn Town Hall and Darwen Town Hall – 11am.

Monday, November 11

Mayor of Blackburn with Darwen’s Remembrance Concert at King George’s Hall – 7pm.

Tickets cost £4 and children go free with full paying adult.

Official reveal of “Two sides of the same coin” sculpture with the Mayor of Blackburn with Darwen. Blackburn Library – 12pm.

Wreaths and poppies may be purchased from the Royal British Legion.
