The day’s arrangements, which are also a Bank Holiday include:

Blackburn and Darwen town halls will be closed, and customer services phone lines will be unavailable.

A variety of Council services can be accessed via the Blackburn with Darwen Council website, and our buildings will reopen on Tuesday 20 September.

Bin collections

Bin collections will take place as normal on Monday, however will be paused during the Queen’s State Funeral as a mark of respect.

Household Waste Recycling Centres

These sites will be open on bank holiday Monday, although will close during the Queen’s State Funeral as a mark of respect.

Leisure Centres

Blackburn Leisure Centre, Darwen Leisure Centre and Witton Park Arena will all be closed for the day on Monday 19 September.

Blackburn & Darwen Markets

Our markets will be closed for the day on Monday 19 September.

As on other bank holidays, our Registrars service will be available as an on-call service.

Funerals & cremations

Services already scheduled at Pleasington Cemetery and Crematorium will go ahead as planned, in consultation with families.

Adult Social Care

Our Adult Social Care services will be operating as normal, as on other bank holidays. This includes hospital discharge support services.

Blackburn Life has been running as a voluntary venture to support the borough and its community. We are always happy to discuss advertising and promotional packages for businesses to help cover our costs of running Blackburn Life.

Blackburn Life will never charge you fees, levies or memberships to add your events, news, jobs and business listings.
