Families praise St Aidan’s respite service in Mill Hill

Families have been praising St Aidan’s in Mill Hill, saying the Blackburn with Darwen Council short breaks and respite service continues to make a real difference to the lives of adults with learning disabilities and their carers.

For Connor, Lucy and Jessica, every visit to St Aidan’s is something to look forward to. The service offers fun activities, friendship and a chance to build independence in a safe and welcoming setting.

For families, it also brings peace of mind.

Connor’s mum, Sue, said the support from St Aidan’s has made a huge difference to their family.

She said Connor gets excited every time he visits and has built strong relationships with the staff.

“I’d be lost without St Aidan’s,” Sue said. “Connor absolutely loves going and I know he’s happy and well looked after. The support they give isn’t just for him – it helps our whole family.”

Lucy and Jessica also value the time they spend at St Aidan’s, taking part in activities they enjoy and making memories with staff and friends.

Manager Trina Ryan said she is incredibly proud of the team and the care they provide every day.

“Seeing the difference we make to people’s lives is what makes this job so rewarding. We’re passionate about helping people enjoy their time here, supporting their independence and giving families the reassurance they need.”

Earlier this year, St Aidan’s was rated Good by the Care Quality Commission.
