MP and councillor tour Persimmon developments for update on Blackburn and Darwen homes

Andy MacNae MP and Councillor Liz Johnson have visited Persimmon Homes Lancashire’s Bluebell Chase and Willow Grove developments to get an update on progress and hear about the impact the schemes are expected to have locally.

The Labour MP for Rossendale and Darwen and the local ward councillor were welcomed by Persimmon Homes Lancashire managing director Gareth Stansfield and senior contracts manager Liam Cook.

Persimmon says it is contributing more than £3 million towards primary education provision, £3 million for local highway improvements, more than £513,000 to improve healthcare accessibility, and over £600,000 for local sports facilities.

The visit also covered plans for three new play areas across the developments, which are due to be installed over the coming years, and included a look around the new Bluebell Chase show home.

Andy MacNae MP said: “It was great to see the progress being made at the Persimmon Homes developments. It is important that Darwen continues to get quality housing, alongside quality infrastructure. Getting outdoors and exercising is important for all of us, but especially children. So the three new play areas, along with the money for local sports facilities, will make a real difference. I look forward to working with Persimmon the council and the local community to make sure quality provision is delivered.”

Councillor Liz Johnson said: “It was a pleasure to be invited to meet on the Bluebell Chase and Willow Grove developments. Good quality housing is being produced for Blackburn and Darwen residents together with drainage of the land. Persimmon is also making a good contribution to the cost of infrastructure development and sports facilities. It was encouraging to see the importance they place on constructing three new play areas for children on the development, which will please the many residents who have campaigned for this. I will continue to work closely with our MP and Persimmon Homes to ensure the delivery of good homes and provision for our community.”
