Over 2,700 empty properties in Blackburn with Darwen

A recent analysis of figures by property company Coulters shows that Blackburn with Darwen had 2,717 vacant dwellings in the borough, with with over 4% sitting empty.

It puts Blackburn with Darwen as the ninth highest in the country (as a percentage of total dwellings) with Blackpool, Burnley and Hyndburn in the same list. Blackpool has the highest percentage of vacant properties in England with over 3,800 empty properties (5.47% of the total).

Coulters Property said:

At a time when demand for new housing is so high, it’s sad to think that any house would sit empty when it could be being turned into a home for someone. Unfortunately, however, that’s the case for thousands of properties across the country.

The latest figures show that there are over 640,000 vacant dwellings in England, which account for 2.65% of all houses. But where in the country are the most houses sitting empty?

Looking at the areas with the highest % of empty homes (compared to the total number of homes in the area), we see that the majority are found in the North West, with Blackpool having a higher rate of empty properties than anywhere else.

Blackburn Life has been running as a voluntary venture to support the borough and its community. We are always happy to discuss advertising and promotional packages for businesses to help cover our costs of running Blackburn Life.
