Shocking moment in Blackburn when cyclist is hit by “excess drugs” driver

A cyclist in his 30s was injured in a head-on collision with a car at the Four Lane Ends junction in Blackburn on Thursday evening.

The incident happened at around 7.40pm at the Four Lane Ends junction on Pleckgate Road.

The CCTV̇ footage was shared on social media.

The cyclist was taken to hospital with fractures. His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

The driver of the Seat, stopped around the corner and was subsequently arrested by the police.

Lancashire police said on Friday: “We were called by the ambulance service shortly before 8pm to reports of a collision between a pedal cycle and a car on Shear Brow, Blackburn.

“The cyclist, a man in his 30s, was taken to hospital with fractures.

“A 23-year-old man from Blackburn was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by driving without due care and driving & excess drugs. He is in custody.”
