Something spooky is coming to Blackburn Empire as 2:22 A Ghost Story takes to the stage
Things are about to go bump in the night at Blackburn Empire Theatre as the award-winning Blackburn Drama Club prepares to bring the chilling West End thriller 2:22 A Ghost Story to the stage this November.
Running from Wednesday 11 to Saturday 14 November 2026, the production promises an evening of suspense, supernatural mystery and unexpected twists, as four friends attempt to discover whether something sinister is lurking in an apparently ordinary home.
Written by Danny Robins, 2:22 A Ghost Story became a West End phenomenon, captivating audiences with its gripping mix of psychological tension, unexplained events and the age-old question of whether ghosts really exist.
Now, local audiences will have the chance to experience the story in a production directed by Alison Bell and presented by Blackburn Drama Club.
Can you stay awake until 2:22?
Jenny is convinced something is wrong in her home.
Every night, at exactly 2:22am, she hears footsteps near her baby daughter’s cot through the monitor.
Could it simply be the sounds of an old house settling, or is there something far more unsettling happening?
When friends Lauren and Ben arrive for a dinner party with Jenny and her husband Sam, what starts as an ordinary evening of wine, laughter and conversation soon turns into a debate about ghosts, belief and scepticism.
Jenny is determined to prove that what she’s hearing is real, while Sam remains unconvinced.
Eventually, the four agree to stay awake until 2:22am to discover the truth for themselves.
But as the clock ticks closer, tensions rise and the evening takes an increasingly sinister turn.
