VE80 Fest Gears Up for a Massive Day of Music, Community and Commemoration in Blackburn

Witton Park in Blackburn is preparing to host one of the region’s most anticipated community events — VE80 Fest — marking the 80th anniversary of Victory in Europe Day.

Taking place on Bank Holiday Monday, 5th May 2025, this free-to-attend event promises a full day of live music, entertainment and commemorative activities for all ages.

Hosted by the Royal British Legion Blackburn Branch with support from Blackburn with Darwen Council, VE80 Fest offers a safe, family-friendly environment to celebrate this historic milestone.

What to expect:

  • A full day of live music from acts including:
    • The Salvation Army Band
    • Local favourites Free Spirit
    • 40s singer Gina Kay
    • Award-winning vocalist Jaycee
    • High Five Party Band
    • Rocketman (Elton John Tribute)
    • Meatloaf Tribute
    • Voulez Vous (International ABBA Tribute)
  • Vintage military vehicles
  • Exhibitions from military and public services
  • A family fun fair with inflatables
  • 120+ stalls from local traders and community groups
  • Food court serving hot food and snacks
  • Afternoon teas in the RBL Union Marquee (1pm to 4pm):
    • £8 per adult
    • £5 for under 16s
    • £22 family ticket (2 adults + 2 children)

Practical info:

  • Pay and display parking at Witton Park
  • Free parking at Pleasington Playing Fields, Tower Road and Witton Park Academy (via Buncer Lane)
  • Public transport or walking is encouraged

Security details:

  • Security and stewards will be on-site throughout the day
  • Random bag searches will be in place
  • No large bags or holdalls allowed

Visitors are encouraged to bring:

  • Picnics
  • Deck chairs
  • Red, white and blue outfits to join in the commemorative spirit

Fundraising for the Armed Forces community:

Volunteers will be collecting donations throughout the event in support of the Royal British Legion’s local Poppy Appeals.

Headline sponsors include Just Motor Group, with support from local organisations such as Blackburn Rovers Community Trust, British Aerospace, Merch Network, Pennine Fire Services, Yeates Van Sales, DLW Plumbing, and Alta.
