2020 sees Ribble Valley International Piano Week further broadening its reach as a treasured piano festival in rural North West England.  Continuing their tradition of bringing world-class musicians together with emerging artists, this intimate and friendly series on the fringes of the beautiful Lancashire countryside has been delighting audiences for over thirty years.

Dates: Thursday 7th May 2020 and Thursday 15th –Saturday 18th July 2019
Venue: The Croston Theatre, Westholme School, Meins Rd., Blackburn, BB2 6QU

RVIPW are too acknowledging the 250th anniversary of Beethoven’s birth with his works being well represented in the festival.  Martin Roscoe will include Op 110 and Op 10/3 in his opening concert for us on 15th July, and on 16th, young Spanish pianist Victor Braojos presents an all-Beethoven programme.

We are delighted that Steven Osborne has found time to join us again this year in

amongst his busy International concert commitments and we simply had to ask astonishing BBC Young Musician Of The Year, 18 year old Lauren Zhang back for an evening concert following her incredible lunchtime RVIPW concert last year.

Tom Scott’s famous animations on the theme of Fairy Tales and Fantasy will delight youngsters and oldies alike – he and his brother Jonathan have put together a lovely programme of piano duets for all members of the family on Saturday lunchtime.

And we close with a very rare and special event – a last chance to hear RVIPW favourite, world-famous violinist Tasmin Little in live performance for us before she retires in August 2020. This will be a poignant and memorable evening, one of the last times she and long term duo partner Martin Roscoe will perform together and they have created a wonderful programme for us – a real once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to hear these old friends play wonderful music.

The festival offers a dream-opportunity to pianists by sharing its platform and enabling non-professionals to sample the thrill of playing a concert grand piano. Over the years Yamaha have become an essential part of RVIPW. Everyone loved playing the CFX last year and we are delighted that once again they will support us by supplying this fabulous piano for our concerts in 2020.
