WHEN private chef Matt Hunter and his wife Jo made the move from York to Lancashire, they found a forever home that had all the right ingredients in Feniscowles.
They purchased a five-bedroom, three-storey Dovecote 5 at Kingswood’s Green Hills after shaping the property around their lifestyle with the housebuilder’s Shape Your Home concept.
Matt, 39, said: “Thanks to Shape Your Home, we were able to customise our home’s layout to suit our lifestyle. On the top floor, we moved the master bedroom from the front of the home to the back and created a huge suite including an ensuite and a walk-in dressing room, something that was on Jo’s wish list. In doing this, we lost a bedroom, but we have gained the bedroom of our dreams, and we still have three other bedrooms to use.”
Jo, 34, added: “I work from home for the NHS, and it was important to have a home office. Shape Your Home allowed us to have an incredible master suite, an office, and still have two spare bedrooms for when family and friends visit from York. Kingswood made it so easy to customise our home with features like fitted wardrobes and dressing table, and additional tiling.”
The couple were surprised at how far their money went. They went from living in a three-bedroom terrace house with no garden or parking in York to a five-bedroom home with a sizeable garden, driveway and integral garage.
The Dovecote 5 has a unique layout. You enter on the first floor where there is an integral garage, two bedrooms and a W/C. The top floor is home to the master suite and a second double bedroom with an ensuite. The living space is on the lower floor.
“We love how private our home is. Our kitchen, dining and living area ticked all the boxes for us. When I’m cooking, I like having everyone in the same room so it’s a sociable space and that’s exactly what the Dovecote 5 offered us,” Matt added.
Jo said: “The open plan kitchen and living space gives so many options. We have been able to create a gorgeous dining nook, and we love how each part of the room functions as a separate space but also flows together. It feels both spacious and cosy and is perfect for entertaining.”
The couple originally wanted a period property but after realising they didn’t want to live in a building site or fork out for expensive renovations, they opted for the new build route.
“We looked at other housebuilders but all the homes looked the same. That was why Kingswood Homes appealed so much, because the homes are really individual and the spec is next level. Aspects such as the USB sockets, spotlights in the kitchen and the quality of the tiling throughout the house is fantastic.”
The couple say the team at Kingswood have been attentive from start to finish, particularly the site team.
