Blackburn with Darwen come together for Holocaust Memorial Day

Blackburn with Darwen will once again come together for Holocaust Memorial Day on Sunday, January 26, to remember the victims of genocide.

Supported by Blackburn with Darwen Council, alongside the Interfaith Forum, the event will take place on the steps of Blackburn Town Hall on King William Street at 2pm.

Including speeches from the Mayor of Blackburn with Darwen, Cllr Salim Mulla, and the Chair of the Interfaith Forum Joginder Bhamra, whilst their will also be short prayers by representatives from various religious faiths.
This year’s theme for Holocaust Memorial Day is ‘Journeys’. The theme offers the chance to learn how journeys themselves became part of genocide, and how journeys undertaken were often experiences of persecution and terror. We can also learn about how journeys of return have been part of the experience of rebuilding.

After the ceremony there will also be the opportunity to learn more about genocide, with reference books and a small display present in the Town Hall main foyer for those who would like to learn more.
