Police issue Halloween safety reminder for Blackburn and Darwen

With Halloween just around the corner, Blackburn and Darwen Police are reminding residents to keep celebrations fun, friendly, and respectful — ensuring a fang-tastic night for everyone.
The team says there’ll be an increased police presence across the borough in the run-up to Halloween and Bonfire Night to help keep communities safe and prevent antisocial behaviour.
While most people enjoy dressing up and trick-or-treating, officers are urging residents to be mindful that not everyone enjoys a fright night.

- Only knock where you’re welcome — visit homes with decorations or lights on, and skip those that look like they’re not taking part.
- Be respectful — even small pranks can be unsettling for some residents.
- Parents: make sure you know where your children are, who they’re with, and what they’re doing.
- Anti-social behaviour isn’t just scary — it can have real consequences.
- Use emergency lines responsibly — Halloween and Bonfire Night are busy times for emergency services; always use the most appropriate method to get in touch.
Police have also released a “No Trick or Treat” poster for anyone who doesn’t wish to be disturbed on Halloween.

Officers from the Neighbourhood Policing Teams will be patrolling local communities, supported by Operation Centurion, which targets antisocial behaviour and nuisance across Blackburn and Darwen.
Police say they’re also working closely with partner agencies to ensure the spooky season stays safe for everyone.
