Covering more than 480 acres of parkland, woodland and countryside, Witton Country Park is the largest green space in Blackburn and one of Lancashire’s best-loved outdoor destinations. Just a mile from the town centre, the park was once the estate of the Feilden family, whose Victorian stables now house the Witton Park Visitor Centre with exhibitions, information and a café.
The park is a haven for walkers, cyclists and families. It offers extensive footpaths and nature trails, formal gardens, riverside walks and wide open fields for picnics and play. It is also the starting point of the Witton Weavers Way, a 32-mile circular trail that winds through the West Pennine Moors, making it a gateway to some of Lancashire’s most scenic landscapes.
For families, there are two adventure playgrounds, a pets’ corner, and sports facilities including football pitches, athletics tracks and a cycle centre. Throughout the year, Witton hosts a range of events from community fun days to major festivals and charity runs, drawing visitors from across the North West.
With free entry, car parking on site, and excellent access from the A674 Preston Old Road, Witton Country Park is the perfect spot for a short stroll, an active day out, or a deeper dive into Lancashire’s countryside.
