Blackburn Martial Arts Group in running for national prize

A Blackburn Community Interest Company, is a finalist in the Persimmon Homes 2021 Building Futures award.

The winners will be determined by public vote and the local group could win up to £100,000 if successful. Masters of Martial Arts, which is based in Blackburn Town Centre, is asking for the public’s support with a simple online vote.

Building Futures is a £1 million scheme to support children’s health, sport and education & arts.

Persimmon Homes have joined forces with Team GB – the British Olympic Association – to give away over £1 million to help projects for young people aged under 18 across England, Wales and Scotland.

Phil Turner, who runs Masters of Martial Arts CIC, said:

We are keen to increase long-term participation in sport and help create a healthier community. We see our club as a way for youngsters to gain a healthy start in life and it’s also great to see the benefits in terms of confidence and friendship too.

You can vote every day and we’d be grateful if you can help bring this prize to our local community.
