Free Easter holiday club places available

Free holiday club places are being offered during the Easter holidays offered to children who qualify for free school meals.

The Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) scheme will be running again over 2 weeks during the school holidays.

This programme offers free places in holiday clubs to children eligible for free school meals for four hours a day for four sessions over the Easter holidays, running from Monday, April 4th to Friday, April 15th

All children and young people eligible for Free School Meals or identified by local agency referral as In Need, are entitled to 4 x 4 hour holiday club sessions, with a nutritious, hot meal each day.

The ‘Get Stuck In’ Clubs, run through Spring North, will provide a range of fun activities for children aged 4-16 years. Activities are also available for children with SEND in the borough.

Sessions are available from: Blackburn & Darwen YouthZones, Youth Action, Newground@BYZ, IMO, One Voice Blackburn, SportsCool, Junction 4 Skatepark, FACE – Thisability, SEND@SportsCool and Rainbow Youth.

You will need your child’s school FSM booking code which you should have received if you’re FSM eligible or entitled to book with this scheme.

There is something for everyone, and the activities range from multi-sports, musical theatre and dance, arts and crafts, cooking sessions, drama and music and much more, all delivered by fully trained and DBS checked staff.

Blackburn with Darwen Young people’s services, Children’s centres and Seeds Adolescent Support Unit will also be providing activity for children and young people.

The sessions on offer at Blackburn and Darwen children’s centres over the Easter Holidays are:

Tuesday 5th April: Messy play for Under 5s, 9.30-11.30 at Highercroft Children’s Centre.

Wednesday 6th April:  Family Lego Challenge for over 5’s, 9.30-11.30 and Music time for Under 5s, 12.30-2.30, both at Little Harwood Children’s Centre. Café’s will be open for refreshments.

Thursday, 7th April: Easter Basket crafts, 9.30-11.30 and Music time for Under 5s, 12.30-2.30, both at Livesey Children’s Centre. Café’s will be open for refreshments

Friday 8th April: Spring Bulb Planting, 12.30-2.30 at Darwen Children’s Centre.
