Blackburn’s Christmas Lights switch on has been announced for Saturday 26th November 2022 with Strictly contestant AJ Odudu switching on the lights this year.

The ‘Blackburn Glitter Ball’ will host a day of dance and music on King William Street – with hopes of scoring a 10 with the crowds!

The free, festive event, which will begin with a performance by Blackburn with Darwen Brass Band, followed by an all-singing, all-dancing opening show by local company Pop-Up Entertainment.

During the afternoon, talented local dance and theatre schools and performing arts groups will all entertain the crowds.

Then, the finale show – starting at 5.30pm and with singers, dancers, and performers (with no details provided) – will culminate in the town centre’s beautiful Christmas Lights being switched on by AJ, followed by a fireworks display.

As well as the Christmas Lights Switch On, a festive ‘Blackburn Gingerbread Christmas Trail’, organised by Blackburn Business Improvement District (BID), will run between 2 December and 31 December.

Other events in the local area include Pantomime’s, including Cinderella starring Linda Lusardi at the Blackburn Empire and Jack and the Beanstalk starring Dalton Harris at King George’s Hall. Darwen Library Theatre add to the festive entertainment with Dear Santa.

You can also enjoy The Nice List – A “Sanatamine” at Blackburn Empire Theatre.
