Nominations are now open for the 2025 Community Volunteer Awards — the annual celebration of volunteers who give their time to make life better for others across Blackburn with Darwen.
The awards, now in their ninth year, are organised by Blackburn with Darwen Council and Community CVS. This year’s categories are inspired by Community CVS’s six Ps — recognising contributions to People, Prosperity, Planet, Peace, Place, and Participation.
There are also special awards for a Young Volunteer (25 and under) and a Lifetime Achievement Award for someone who’s volunteered for over 20 years.
Council Leader Phil Riley said:
“Everyone who volunteers in Blackburn with Darwen has contributed to the strong volunteering spirit that I’m so proud of in our borough.”
Nominees must volunteer within Blackburn with Darwen, and anyone can submit a nomination — all that’s needed is a short summary explaining why the person or organisation deserves recognition.
Garth Hodgkinson, Chief Executive of Community CVS, added:
“Now in their ninth year, these annual awards recognise and celebrate the hard work, passion and dedication of the borough’s volunteers.”
The winners will be announced at a special ceremony at Ewood Park on Thursday 6 November, hosted by BBC Radio Lancashire’s Graham Liver.
