Exciting news for book lovers! A new Waterstones bookstore is soon to grace Blackburn town centre.
Signage has recently been installed in the Mall, announcing the upcoming launch of the bookstore at the former location of WH Smith. Although the exact opening date is yet to be confirmed, anticipation is building among eager readers.
This is not the first time Waterstones has made an appearance in Blackburn. In 2013, a Waterstones Sales Outlet opened its doors at the former Toymaster outlet on King William Street. However, it closed its doors three years later. Now, the return of Waterstones to the town signifies a renewed opportunity for residents to indulge in a wide range of books and literary treasures.
The closure of WH Smith in 2020 left Blackburn with just one official store selling new books, namely The Works. The arrival of Waterstones will undoubtedly invigorate the local literary scene, offering book enthusiasts a dedicated space to explore and discover their next great read.
Waterstones has established stores in nearby towns including Preston, Bolton and Bury.
