Age UK Blackburn with Darwen working with Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council are offering new dementia friendly gentle swimming sessions at both Blackburn and Darwen Leisure Centres

“Research shows that low impact exercise such as swimming can help improve the health and wellbeing of people living with dementia” said Alison Hartley, Age UK Blackburn with Darwen’s Active Ageing Manager, “Our new sessions will be relaxed and friendly, with trained staff and accessible facilities. There is no need to stay for the whole hour, just come along and take part.”

The sessions take place on Mondays at Blackburn Sports and Leisure Centre 1pm to 2pm and on Thursdays 2pm to 3pm at Darwen Leisure Centre. The cost is £3 per session and accompanying carers swim for free. For more details contact Alison at Age UK on 01254 266620.
