Age UK Blackburn with Darwen are appealing for volunteers for their growing digital inclusion service.
Volunteers would be required to help service users on a weekly basis for 1-2 hours. You would provide IT guidance and coaching through weekly lessons. Helping service users increase their knowledge of all things IT from setting up an email address to surfing the World Wide Web. We require volunteers who are competent on all things IT, have patience and above all are excellent communicators.
Vicky Shepherd, Chief Executive, said: “We have been working to ensure that older people benefit from technological change for many years. Technology is no longer an optional extra and we need to ensure that everyone in later life is able to realise the benefits of the new digital age.”
We currently have over 130 volunteers working with us and their assistance in invaluable. The need for our services continue to increase, so our need for more volunteers is vital for us to continue to provide an all-round service.
If you have some time to spare or want to get some experience and help older people to access vital services and information, then we need you.
