This is Merseybeat – The swinging sixties sound of Liverpool at Blackburn’s Empire Theatre

This new theatre show featuring the Cavern Club’s resident beat combo, THE SHAKERS, will be at Blackburn’s Empire Theatre on Friday 18th October 2019 at 7.30pm.

This vibrant and exciting show also features guest artists, Victoria Jones as Cilla Black and Paul Molloy as Billy J Kramer.

Music is one of Liverpool’s most successful exports and Merseybeat was the key that opened the door for the worldwide British Invasion of 1964/65: The bedrock of the ‘swinging sixties’. Now, with this show you can experience the birth of the beat up to the ‘Merseymania’ years, when Liverpool established its formidable status as top of the pops!

The show was devised, written and produced by Liverpool musician/actor and leader/founder of The Shakers, Tony O’Keeffe, and has had a successful run of initial shows around the North West over the last 12 months. The Shakers have been resident in the Cavern Club since 2006 and are Liverpool’s leading beat combo with a solid reputation across the UK and beyond as ’the best Merseybeat group out of Liverpool since the 60s!’ – (‘THE BEAT’ magazine).
