Blackburn Life have this week launched the Blackburn Life Awards, aimed to promote the public’s favourite shops, restaurants, pubs, cafes and more.
The Awards will run all year round with a new category every month. February launches with the Award for “Best Café or Coffee Shop”. They are an opportunity for local businesses to get free publicity and celebrate their successes.
The Awards have been created by the team behind Blackburn Life, local PR and digital marketing agency, Square Cactus. Their director, Ian Holmes, explained:
“The borough is packed with a vast number of businesses that are loved by their customers for great products, service and choice, but they don’t always get the credit they deserve. Running a small business is hard work and if these awards help raise the profile of these high street champions then it can only be a good thing.
“Each month we will be announcing a new category of business for the awards and kicking us off in February 2020 is Best Café or Coffee Shop. We’ve already had around 20 nominations and the public will have their chance to vote from Monday 17th February 2020.
“We’ve made the awards totally free, so any business can take part.
“We really hope the public and local businesses get behind the awards and we can all work towards highlighting our high street heroes.”
Each month the awards will consist of two phases: Nomination and Voting. All the dates will be announced on the web and social media through whatsonblackburn.com and Blackburn Life.
Nomination phase: Owners and customers can nominate a business to take part in the public vote. A business only needs one nomination to be included in the public vote.
Voting phase: A web-based vote opens to the public for approximately two weeks. Voting will be restricted to one vote per person and social media tiles will be available to help businesses get as many votes as possible.
