The eight wards that are likely to see tougher restrictions in Blackburn

A targeted approach to reducing the spread of Coronavirus in Blackburn with Darwen is set to be announced today.

In a post earlier today, Blackburn with Darwen Council have highlighted the wards that are likely to be falling under new strict restrictions, including a ban on residents socialising with anyone they don’t live with. A full update is expected later.

The eight wards are those with the highest rates of infection which are:

  • Audley and Queens Park
  • Blackburn Central
  • Roe Lee
  • Billinge and Beardwood
  • Bastwell and Daisyfield
  • Shear Brow and Corporation Park
  • Little Harwood and Whitebirk
  • Wensley Fold

Councillor Mohammed Khan OBE, Leader of Blackburn with Darwen Council, said:

We know that our residents have been making huge sacrifices and that businesses are struggling – we desperately needed to prevent the threat of a full, borough-wide lockdown as this would have been devastating.

We will continue with our important work fighting this infection at a really local level – focusing our resources and efforts on our residents who need it most.

Blackburn Life has been running as a voluntary venture to support the borough and its community. We are always happy to discuss advertising and promotional packages for businesses to help cover our costs of running Blackburn Life.

Blackburn Life will never charge you fees, levies or memberships to add your events, news, jobs and business listings.
