The Mall Blackburn looking forward to the first step of a return to a new normal

The Mall Blackburn is looking forward to welcoming shoppers as more of its shops begin to open, starting from Monday June 15th.

Management are asking people to be patient and understanding as everyone adjusts to the new arrangements.

The shopping centre will operate its normal trading hours from June 15th 2020 but not all shops and eateries will be open with immediate effect. People are being asked to plan their visit in advance and check the shopping centres website for updates.

Some toilet facilities and the children’s play area will remain closed, only selected entrances will be open and a maximum capacity level is likely to lead to queues.

The Mall Blackburn has remained partially open throughout the Covid-19 crisis to enable the local community to benefit from the services of the essential retailers.

A wide variety of measures have been implemented to support good hygiene practise and social distancing including a one-way system and hand sanitation stations.

Access to The Mall will be closely monitored using footfall technology so that visitor capacity can be carefully controlled to maintain social distancing.

Management has undertaken extensive planning and consultation with local authorities, retailers and service providers to ensure the health and wellbeing of shoppers and staff, with detailed guidelines been issued to occupiers and teams.

Loraine Jones, General Manager at The Mall Blackburn, said: “We are looking forward to the first step of a return to a new normal.

“It is the first time the shopping centre has had to operate in this way and it will be a learning curve for everyone. We are asking shoppers to be patient and kind.

“We want everyone to feel as safe as possible and ask that our shoppers please adhere to the Government’s guidance on social distancing to help prevent the transmission of coronavirus (Covid-19).

“We ask that shoppers don’t enter the centre if they are experiencing any symptoms of Covid 19, which include a new and persistent cough, a fever or a loss of sense of taste or smell.”

Up to date information on shop openings and accessibility will be available at www.themall.co.uk/blackburn and via The Mall Blackburn’s social media channels.
