The Firepit, which occupied a prime unit overlooking Blackburn Cathedral, looks to have quietly ceased trading.

The venue is currently unlit and inactive, and its Google listing now states that the restaurant is permanently closed. The brand’s official website also no longer lists Blackburn as an active location.
Although Blackburn is still referenced in the website footer, the link now leads to an unknown or inactive page – suggesting the site has not been fully updated following the closure.
The Firepit was one of the headline leisure operators brought into Cathedral Square as part of the town centre’s regeneration, offering a mix of grilled food, cocktails and late-night atmosphere aimed at positioning Blackburn as a stronger evening destination.
When it opened, The Firepit was billed as a major addition to Blackburn town centre’s evening economy, helping anchor the restaurant and leisure offer around Cathedral Square.
The Blackburn site formed part of a small regional chain.
The apparent closure is the latest blow to Blackburn’s Cathedral Quarter food and drink offer. Caribbean chain Turtle Bay, which occupied the other main restaurant unit in Cathedral Close, officially shut after eight years in the town. The loss of both venues now leaves the two most prominent large restaurant spaces in the development vacant.
Earlier, Caribbean restaurant chain Turtle Bay also vacated its unit in Cathedral Close – the other major food and drink space within the same development.
Together, the loss of both venues leaves two of the most prominent hospitality units around Cathedral Square and Cathedral Close empty, raising fresh questions about footfall, trading conditions and the long-term sustainability of larger restaurant operators in the town centre.
No official statement appears to have been issued regarding The Firepit’s closure.
